TNMHPO Awards
The Texas New Mexico Hospice & Palliative Care Organization membership wishes to acknowledge exemplary performance among its members in the hospice community. The purpose of the recognition is to reward and recognize outstanding hospice professionals and volunteers. Individuals who are nominated for the awards must be actively involved in the hospice movement in Texas or New Mexico.

Award Categories

Lifetime Achievement Award
This award recognizes an individual who has 1) made a significant contribution to hospice in the states of Texas or New Mexico, 2) promoted the growth and development of hospice, 3) embodies the core values of hospice and 4) has a minimum of 20 years of hospice service. Each year, one award will be granted and posthumous awards will be given only within 3 months of death.

The Charley Wasson Hospice Advocate Award
This award recognizes individuals who have served as either a hospice professional or volunteer for no less than three years. Individuals should be nominated for their 1) commitment to the core values of hospice, 2) unique approach to providing and extending hospice services, and 3) exhibits professional and personal development during their service to the hospice mission. Nominations should include specific examples of excellence in service, demonstration of hospice core values and impact on patient, families and other professionals. Each year, no more than 4 awards will be given out and all nominated hospice professionals and volunteers will be considered that meet the criteria.

Emerging Leader Award
The Hospice Emerging Leader Award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated exceptional leadership potential within the hospice care field. This award is intended for a professional who has made significant contributions to their organization or the broader hospice community through innovative practices, compassionate care, and a commitment to improving end-of-life experiences. The recipient will have shown dedication to personal and professional growth, embraced mentorship opportunities, and demonstrated a forward-thinking approach to patient care, staff engagement, and community outreach. This award highlights a rising leader whose efforts are shaping the future of hospice care.

Nominate a Hospice Professional
The Awards Committee will award based on the strength of the nominee’s accomplishments and will consider the wide variety of professional roles to demonstrate the core value of teamwork. Use this form to describe nominee’s accomplishments and contributions to hospice, include impact of service to hospice and patients, dedication and commitment, to goals, philosophy and stewardship of hospice, initiative, dependability and reliability. Nominations are due by January 1, 2025.
