Michele was nominated by her supervisor at Hospice of Lubbock John Castro and here is what he wrote:
“Michele has profoundly influenced our community through her dedication to enhancing the Veterans food pantry. In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, food insecurity surged within our area. In light of this urgent challenge, our team took proactive steps to launch a food pantry. This initiative has allowed us to meet the needs of many veterans each year. Notably, in 2023, we distributed 340 bags of food to our valued veteran population. Inspired by this success, we are committed to further expanding this commendable effort to provide even more support to our veterans. As we approach the end of 2024, we have distributed as many as 711 bags of food. Michele has excelled in fostering connections between our organization and various community members to bolster this cause. Recently, she secured a generous recurring food donation, with deliveries occurring weekly. Additionally, she obtained sponsorship for the creation of durable collection bins to be placed in various businesses, facilitating food donations. Michele is even willing to visit the office on weekends if a veteran is in urgent need. While the success of the food pantry relies on a collective effort, I would like to acknowledge Michele Houston for her exceptional dedication, as she has undoubtedly invested 110% of her efforts into this mission.”
Michele, warmest congratulations on your achievement! Wishing you even more success in the future. –TNMHPO Board of Directors and Team
