Hospice Advocate Award Winner – Linda Tavel
Linda Tavel, MD received this very special award and honored on Feb. 21, 2025 at our annual awards ceremony in front of 400+ hospice professionals.
Linda Tavel was nominated by Danny Mack and here is what he wrote:
“I am writing to wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Linda Tavel for the Hospice Advocate Award. Having had the privilege to work alongside Dr. Tavel for several years, I can attest to her exceptional dedication and unwavering commitment to providing the highest quality of care to her patients.
Dr. Tavel’s medical expertise is truly remarkable. Her extensive knowledge in palliative care, combined with her compassionate approach, has had a profound impact on countless patients and their families. She possesses an unparalleled ability to navigate complex medical situations while maintaining a focus on the human aspects of care.
In addition to her clinical skills, Dr. Tavel has made significant contributions outside of her direct patient care. She has served on the board of the Texas New Mexico Palliative and Hospice Organization (TNMPHO), where her insights have helped shape policies that enhance patient care throughout our community.
Dr. Tavel’s presentations at the annual conference have been informative and are considered a highlight of the conference. Her role on the Chaplain Discipline Committee and Education Committee further exemplifies her holistic approach to care, integrating spiritual support into the medical framework to address the needs of patients and their families comprehensively.
Moreover, as an honorary chaplain, Dr. Tavel is deeply committed to advocating for quality patient care. She consistently goes above and beyond to ensure that each individual receives the support they need during their most vulnerable times. Her faithfulness in this regard not only enriches the lives of those she directly cares for but also inspires her colleagues to uphold the same standards of compassion and integrity.

The TNMHPO Education Subscription is for agencies who wish to provide on-demand education for the entire staff. This subscription is an add-on to a TNMHPO membership and can’t be purchased separately.
A TNMHPO Membership Plus Education Subscription gives members of the Texas New Mexico Hospice & Palliative Care Organization unlimited access to all archived online education for the entire year. You can provide training to your current staff and utilize these educational opportunities for new employee orientation. There are courses for every discipline on your hospice team and continuing education units and proof of attendance for Administrators, Nurses, Social Workers, and LPCs.
The optional education subscription may only be used by staff of the joining hospice agency, not to train partners, affiliates or sister organization staff. If your hospice is part of a home health, then the home health division will need to pay its own dues and education.
TNMHPO reserves the right to limit users if we feel the system is being misused.
The TNMHPO Education Subscription is 10% of your annual membership dues plus $650.
