For the past two decades, Carla has been an unwavering advocate, a compassionate leader, and an innovative force in the field of hospice and palliative medicine. Since May 1999, Carla has served as the Executive Director of Texas Academy of Palliative Medicine until her retirement in 2020. She has been instrumental in advocating for policy changes, developing innovative trainings for clinicians, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and increasing public awareness about the importance of hospice and palliative care.

Carla’s contribution as a Board Member of the Texas New Mexico Hospice & Palliative Care Organization from 2006 to 2012 further exemplifies her commitment to this field. During her tenure, she played a pivotal role in strategic planning and program development, significantly contributing to the improvement of hospice care services across both states. Her initiatives have left a lasting impact on how end-of-life care is administered, ensuring dignity and comfort for patients and their families.

Throughout her career, Carla has not only administered and overseen programs but has also been a source of innovative ideas and educational initiatives. She has organized numerous conferences, workshops, and training sessions, all aimed at improving the skills of healthcare professionals in palliative and hospice care. Her commitment to education and training ensures that her impact will resonate for generations to come.

Education Subscription

The TNMHPO Education Subscription is for agencies who wish to provide on-demand education for the entire staff. This subscription is an add-on to a TNMHPO membership and can’t be purchased separately.

A TNMHPO Membership Plus Education Subscription gives members of the Texas New Mexico Hospice & Palliative Care Organization unlimited access to all archived online education for the entire year.  You can provide training to your current staff and utilize these educational opportunities for new employee orientation.  There are courses for every discipline on your hospice team and continuing education units and proof of attendance for Administrators, Nurses, Social Workers, and LPCs.

The optional education subscription may only be used by staff of the joining hospice agency, not to train partners, affiliates or sister organization staff. If your hospice is part of a home health, then the home health division will need to pay its own dues and education. 

TNMHPO reserves the right to limit users if we feel the system is being misused.
